Arriving by car (Scrabster ~ Stromness)
Travel out from Stromness and follow the signs for Kirkwall (A965), the road is 15 miles. Once in Kirkwall, at the forth roundabout, take the right hand exit, and follow this road (St. Catherine's Place). At the junction, turn left, the Auld Smokehoose is the second property on the left, the car park is around the back of the property.
Arriving by car (Gills Bay ~ St. Margaret's Hope)
Follow the signs for Kirkwall (15 miles). As you enter Kirkwall after you pass the Highland Park distillery, the road naturally takes a left turn down the Holm Branch, follow this road without turning off until reaching a roundabout and turn right. At the next roundabout turn right and follow this road (St. Catherine's Place). At the junction, turn left, the Auld Smokehoose is the second property on the left , the car park is around the back of the property.
Arriving by plane
Follow the signs for Kirkwall (4 miles). The road will naturally take you into the heart of Kirkwall, past the Cathedral, and down Castle Street. At the junction turn right on to Junction Road, follow this road to the first roundabout and turn right on to Shore Street. At the next roundabout turn right and follow this road (St. Catherine's Place). At the junction, turn left, the Auld Smokehoose is the second property on the left , the car park is around the back of the property.
Arriving by car (Aberdeen ~ Kirkwall)
Travel out from ferry terminal and follow the signs for Kirkwall, at the first roundabout take a left. Travel over the next two roundabouts. At the next roundabout take the right hand exit, and follow this road (St. Catherine's Place). At the junction, turn left, the Auld Smokehoose is the second property on the left, the car park is around the back of the property.
