The first Rovers team was formed in 1912 and has been in existence all through the last century. Although a Kirkwall based team Rovers has fielded players from all parts of the British Isles and with great success. In 1936 Rovers won all senior competitions in Orkney football, and over the years has managed to retain a fairly healthy record of victories and trophies. The Club colours are traditionally black and gold (or yellow) with nowadays club sponsors emblazened on the fronts In 1986 the senior team achieved the very rare feat of winning the A League without dropping a single point! In 1997, after a very lean Orkney season, Rovers fought hard to win the Highland Amateur Cup in Dingwall defeating Contin FC by 4 goals to 2 bringing an otherwise dissappointing season to a fantastic end The Club has always managed to survive the unpredictable nature of the world of football mainly thanks to the spirit and comradeship of its members.
